The Medical Assistant Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership, supervision, and clinical oversight of Medical Assistants in a community health clinic setting. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care by supporting efficient clinic operations, staff development, and compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements. The Medical Assistant Supervisor serves as a coach, mentor, and resource to the MA team while collaborating closely with providers, nursing leadership, and operations to support team-based care.

The Medical Assistant Supervisor position is a full-time salary exempt position; 40 hours per week. They will serve as a coach and supervisor for the Medical Assistants in our clinical teams. We are a growing, exciting place to work, serving our community in a variety of ways. Come join our team!


A day in the life of a Medical Assistant Supervisor includes:
  • Supervision of clinic Medical Assistants, including managing the MA patient flow, tasks, and patient/provider follow-up.
  • Conducting one-on-one meetings with supervised staff on a regular basis and evaluation of staff on a 90-day or annual basis.
  • Onboarding, education, and training of new Medical Assistants. Ongoing education and classroom training on skills for all clinical staff.
  • Collaborating with Clinical Manager to create and disperse new policies and procedures to medical assistant staff and ensure proper execution and understanding at all 3 clinical sites.
  • Assist Medical Assistants by rooming patients, taking and documenting vital signs, patient history, and reason for the visit. May perform injections, phlebotomy services, and CLIA waived laboratory tests, and assist the provider with procedures including minor surgical procedures.
  • Responding to patient inquiries and triaging requests for their assigned medical provider, following up on assigned tasks, and communicating with patients as needed; and
  • Troubleshooting and coordinating solutions for Athena EMR scheduling issues.
Compensation and Benefits
  • $56,485.00 - $59,676.00 per year, depending on experience and certifications

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved education program for Medical Assistant; completion of the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship and passing the NHA exam; or a minimum of three (3) years' experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinic setting.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience as a supervisor.
  • Active BLS Certification.
  • Knowledge of safety and clinical standards.
  • Ability to travel between clinics as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet job requirements.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members, patients, families, and others.
  • Ability to utilize a computer for time keeping, documenting electronic medical records, and to complete follow-up tasks. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, medical office software, and workforce scheduling software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.

This position requires long periods of standing and walking, sitting at a computer, the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds, etc. Employees are exposed to blood, body fluids, and other occupational hazards, and are required to complete mandatory vaccines, such as Tdap, Hep A, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, and the yearly flu vaccine.
